Avoid A&E at University Hospital of Wales warning

Wales' largest hospital has urged people not to go to A&E unless they have a life-threatening issue.
Re: Avoid A&E at University Hospital of Wales warning
They have a booking system anyway, I'm assuming this just means those who show up without calling first.
I'd like to think it doesn't discourage people from at least calling if they feel they may need assistance but don't quite yet feel it is life threatening.

People are saying that they can't get through to the booking system on the phone and keep getting cut off.

Lovely, can’t see a GP, now can’t go to a&e either….
Re: Avoid A&E at University Hospital of Wales warning
I've been to A and E four times in the past 6 months, due to various health concerns. It was extremely busy but what I will say is that the staff were fantastic. Receptionist, nurse, consultant all understaffed but professional to the end.

Sensible advise , can we introduce charges for self inflicted attendance due to alcohol abuse

Doesn't the Hypocratic oath ask physicians not to take into account any bias when treating patients?

Completely agree. We all have vices and we all pay for the NHS and it should be there for us. If someone consistently abuses it then that's a different issue and they should be given help.
I'm sure there's loads of things wrong with the NHS but the fact it treats us without prejudice isn't one of them

A friend of mine who has mainly worked in the nhs all her life, a cancer nurse for most of it, recently told me she joined a private GP service….she’s not wealthy.
