Who's downloaded it then?
Nobody with an iPhone 6 apparently
The track and trace app?
They dont say how much mobile data it uses and cant find an answer. So installed it easy enough but uninstalled it when I couldnt get an answer to data usage.
I like to stay a few years behind the new phone tech too. What I’m looking at now is that it’s saying I’m in a medium risk area, do they count the fact I live opposite the Heath hospital and the Covid ward is less than 1000 ft from my front door?
Get a new Samsung phone Bob. Switch to Android. You wont regret it.
What is the name of the app? I put in coronavirus app and got about 10. Test and trace got similar number of options.
NHS Covid 19.
Me.
Do your bit innit
I have, I wonder what chances you have of being within close enough proximity to someone with covid for it to alert you. I suppose slim especially considering they would also need the app.
Just imagining a situation where if you were particularly unlucky your employer would start to think you were taking the piss.
Being all techy for a moment, the app relies on the Bluetooth on your phone to detect the BT on someone else's phone and then decides if you're <2m from it. But BT has an location accuracy of only about 10m, so it will surely over predict the number of contacts you've had.
I said in another thread that I don’t take my phone everywhere these days, I never take it to the gym so bit of a pointless exercise, but I do adhere to the hands, face and space theory.
It's fab. Haven't quite got the hang of swiping left or right yet, but it'll get there. Covid dating. It's the future.
I live in a low risk area. But the app is telling me I’m in a medium risk area ....
yep downloaded, right thing to do in my opinion, if it helps to keep folk safe let's do it
The government should just issue BELLS to those who test positive
F ucking apps , nearer Big Brother every day
Just 7.5% of the money spent on that app, much of it wasted, could have paid for TV licences for the over 75s, but the public would rather blame Gary Lineker.
All the major phone networks have confirmed that the app runs without using up any of the users data allowance. Hopefully that will allow you to reinstall it. If we are ever going to beat the virus, this is an important part of the process, so I have installed it, as have all my family.
How stupid of them to invent something to help save lives where the technology to operate it is so modern that it needs more modern phone systems to operate it. Its like moaning that you have a thirty year old VHS video unit that you cant use any more or an old tv that cant get satellite. People don't have to have a brand new phone, iPhone 6s was released in 2015 and I got my iPhone 7 free from my daughter.
Well bully for you, no stop thinking about yourself and take in the fact that many people living in areas where the virus is most virulent and deadly tend to either not have a modern mobile phone because they can't afford one or see it as low priority when measured against life's essentials or becaue they are of an age where they are unfamiliar with them because they simply do not own one.
I am doubtful whether test and trace or the ap is of much use when, of those contacted, only 11% have agreed to isolate. Test and trace and the ap require the public's cooperation and it seems that isn't happening. However, I have downloaded the ap and find it impressive.
