Dynamo Tbilisi A Sept 15th 1976
The crowd is recorded as 100,000.
Did anyone from this message board go or does anyone know anyone that went?
It seems a made up figure.

Remember them saying it at the time
Re: Dynamo Tbilisi A Sept 15th 1976
Didn't Tony Clemo, along with one or two other board members go?

Saw the home game. A bare few went away, just officials I think.
Re: Dynamo Tbilisi A Sept 15th 1976
Their record attendance was 110,000 against Liverpool, whom they beat 3-0 so it's quite likely that the purported attendance of 100,00 against us was correct. I do remember this figure being bandied about at the time.

Made up of about 30,000 military in uniform, given complimentary tickets (okay, I just made that bit up, but I wouldn't be surprised!) :hehe:

Yes, my father went.
The only thing I remember him telling me about it was that an interpreter from Cardiff University, who was hired by the club, met a local girl who he subsequently married and brought back to South Wales.

Brilliant story 👍
I would imagine it would have been difficult to get visas back then.

From my rather time addled recollections it actually made the Echo.
The old Soviet Union was viewed with huge concern in those days and contact/ travel across the “Iron Curtain” was almost unheard of.
Accordingly love over the divide was seen as quite a novelty and yes I seem to remember that getting her permission to leave was quite an effort.

My dad was on the board at the time and he definitely went

Ain't that the naked truth.

I vaguely recall that someone won a "free away trip of your choice" competition in one of the red tops, so chose this game!

Great story and, unlike our visit to Real Madrid, I believe the recorded crowd for the game was correct.
Re: Dynamo Tbilisi A Sept 15th 1976
I was certainly at the home game. Sadly I have yet to see City away in Europe, unless you count my trip in the Anglo Scottish Cup circa 1975/6. We went to … Bristol Rovers.
