Paul Cook offered the job first on a 6 month contract?
I wonder if this is true?
BREAKING: Mick McCarthy is set to be named as the new Cardiff City boss.Paul Cook had been offered a 6-month deal by the club but turned it down as he wants something longer term.- talkSPORT understands
(Or holding out for a lucrative Sex Pistols reunion tour etc etc...)

What that says to me is Mick McCarthy has also been offered a 6 month contract

Looks like Mick's on a short term deal then with a view to someone else taking over in the summer

Someone else suggested Mick with Bellamy as assistant and Bellamy taking over in the summer which to me makes far too much sense for us to go for it

If this is true, then all is forgiven. Do something bold City!
Although, I wouldn't have minded giving Paul Cook 3 years. Steve Jones as director of shagging.

A steady hand to see out the season whilst someone more progressive gets more experience and learns about the squad etc sounds fairly sensible to me

Isn't the reason Roy Keane hates McCarthy for the fact that he was so ****ing unprofessional with Ireland.? That is the complete opposite to how Bellamy operates.

Mick wasn't unprofessional, FAI were.

Nope not at all, it was the facilities booked by the FIA.
Keane acted like a big ****ing baby and McCarthy went on to have a great World Cup.

So was Mick. A company name. Towed the FAI line instead of fighting for his players.

If this ends up being a short term thing to keep us up and bring in a more progressive manager I think it’s a good move.
Mick is a good bloke too and never has a dull press conference.

He's at the world cup, it's a bit late by that point! If he sodded off as well, I don't think that's fighting for his players either.

Gives him time to work with the players, assess the squad thoroughly before taking over rather than being thrown in the deep end

Assess how good they are at set pieces and how far they can kick the ball. Terrific

Which would make a lot of sense. We need someone with MM's experience to cover the short term and he needs to rebuild his reputation after being out of club game for long time and having bad time of it abroad.

We’ve lost 7 out of the last 8 including against Wycombe, Coventry and QPR. We are in more trouble than people realise.
