Re: Old Pictures of Splott
I'm at work in an industrial unit off portmanmoor road right now, I wonder if I'm sat in what used to be someone's front room
Re: Old Pictures of Splott
Oh how I wish the Grosvenor was still there and full of the wonderful people who frequented it
Proper pub
Re: Old Pictures of Splott
Looking at the blocked up windows reminded me of an amusing tale. The late Brian Keogh, an excellent old bricklayer, was involved. Brian didn’t like the wet weather at all and there’d be no chance of him turning up for work at the hint of a raindrop. The one wet day, no Brian, so his labourer Midgie Drane thought he’d have a go at laying and came up with a plan. Load out inside, get the mixer indoors and away to go. Of course he blocked himself in, Midgie stayed on the shovel after that experience.

I remember playing on an old steam train in the park when visiting my grandparents back in the 70's. Bessie it could have been named?
Pretty sure it was restored and now runs in Blaenavon at The Big Pit.

It was Jessie and also there was a steam roller too.

My mum grew up in Wimborne Street.
I think the little lad playing football is Ronnie Actie one of the innocent men fitted up for the lynette white murder.

I remember the first day that Jessie was over the park, the queue just to walk around it was down past the clinic nearly to the Grosvenor. How things were simple in those days.
