It’ll all end in tears, whoever gets in. We’re in for an even rougher ride over the coming years.

I think you're right, i don't think people realise how bad this coming recession will be. People are going to freeze this winter, All so the American empire can attempt to rub Russia's nose in it.

Re: Truss eyes bonfire of workers rights to boos economy
The way she was digging at Putin and Russia should bother people. She's a dangerous woman, wants to be the next Thatcher and act all tough.

We don’t need to be, we don’t rely on Russian gas, it’s insane we have to pay through the nose for it. Strange how ours seems to have gone up more than France and the Germans who rely on it more….time to cut Russia out completely if it’s them that’s driving the price hike….

They might not think it a very good idea to blab about it at the moment. But it is no secret that the Cons want to reign in the unions. You do live there mate? there's a dispute going on at the mo! The railways?

Even though we don't het much gas from Russia directly, sanctions and the war has pushed the global price of gas right up. The French haven't seen large energy price rises because they heavily invested in nuclear decades ago. So, they have a degree of energy independence. All good until they have an unforseen nuclear meltdown and the French food industry is decimated.
Aren't Germany expecting energy rationing this winter?

I don't think any one of the candidates have mentioned altering the law on unions. But let's not glamourise the unions, they brought this country to it's knees in the 70s, people were so fed up, they voted in an extreme measure in Thatcher to smash their stranglehold. It's a balancing act. Strikers shouldn't be allowed to hold a country to ransom

We, the general public, shouldn’t be paying the price for a lot that the Tories seem to blame on us.

Re: Truss eyes bonfire of workers rights to boos economy
Brexit was all about ripping up workers’ rights and minimum standards of goods/food etc. These will come in as soon as they think they can get away with it.

And if the public disagree they can vote somebody into power who will improve standards and costs at the same time. Isn't that fair?

Only four posts in before someone writes something completely untrue. Not bad that.

:hehe:
If the public disagree the government creates another issue that "becomes" more important and brushes the other under the carpet.

Things always change for example the energy providers weren't private entities in the 70s.
A strong but reasonable union is more important than ever.
It is essential that the right to strike is there.
I really hope that the impending financial crisis galvanizes public opinion to support essential workers in a more meaningful way than clapping on a Thursday during Covid.

Boris is using Agenda 30 as a reason to leave our oil and gas in the ground. Him, Biden, & Trudeau are all on the same path.

It will eventually run out. What then? Surely now is the time to start planning for not having fossil fuels?
