Huddersfield game - no trains from the valleys
Could be fun. I've emailed to ask if they intend having a decent capacity on rail replacement buses to cope with City fans wanting to get into Cardiff.
Re: Huddersfield game - no trains from the valleys
Ffs. Seems to be whenever there's a big football event. Is this all valley lines?
Just checked no trains on the Ebbw Vale line on 29th or 30th. F***ing joke.
Re: Huddersfield game - no trains from the valleys
Treherbert to Pontypridd is closed from April 29th until early 2024
Re: Huddersfield game - no trains from the valleys

Christ. That's one hell of a period for it to be out of action

So much that needs to be done. Some of the signalling is ancient and needs upgrading. There's some dualling of the line. New platforms. Full electrification.
It will create chaos for a long period of time but will be worth it in the end.

Yeah I'm all for the changes. But still, that is some outage.

It adds certainly though - something you never get when the lines are supposedly open.🙂

There is work to be done but I'd swear they look at the City and Wales fixtures to make sure it coincides. Last time they had replacement buses on the EV line was the Jack's game.
Re: Huddersfield game - no trains from the valleys
That Treherbert closure wouldn't be so bad if they started the work Ponty end and worked up the valley opening stations as they pass them. Bet they won't do that though.

I asked the question, could they complete and reopen the Pontypridd-Porth section first as it would take away the 25 mins bus journey past Trehafod especially with the new bus terminal opening in Porth?
The answer was that the signalling is being revamped so wouldn’t work when they transfer to the new system. Bullshit.
What gets me is that they have been closing the line what seems every other week. Why do that if you are closing it for 10 months soon.
It’s crap.
Where I would park and ride using Treforest station, they,be taken 1/2 the car park away to store building material!
