There’s not enough strength in depth / money for a LOW to be sustainable
Or fans.

Ask Cardiff rugby supporters what they think about not being in a league with English teams.

Yep, but with some sense from the football authorities it could be done, you would be tied to the LOW team when registered, but if you break into the 1st team, you play a certain amount of minutes and you are tied to the 1st team and cant play for the LOW one, would work for U23 and players returning back from long term injuries

Definitely, that's why Rugby is on is arse. They need to be competing with teams like Bristol, bath and Northampton. They would have bigger crowds for those games. Rather than the nonsense of having 2 South African teams.
Re: If there was a "real" league of wales
A 12 team top flight could have worked.
Cardiff City
Swansea City
Wrexham
Newport AFC
Merthyr Tydfil
Barry Town
Colwyn Bay
Bangor City
Add the top two from the Cymru Alliance and the Welsh League:
Abergavenny Thursdays
Briton Ferry Athletic
Caersws
Llansanffraid
Re: If there was a "real" league of wales
Perhaps if a Welsh league got off the ground in the late 19th century and became relatively successful other teams would've sprung up, maybe another team in the larger towns.

Maybe Hereford and Chester would have tried to join. Or the many other English teams who used to play in the Welsh cup?!! Hednesford maybe? Who else?

Seeing as the Chester ground is in Wales, them.

Probably no different to Barrow playing Gillingham.

Only a few hundred miles different.
AA Route planner gives Barrow - Gillingham as 344 miles; Torquay - Aberdeen 595 miles.
And of course you have to go both ways, so that's round trips of aprox 700 miles and 1200 miles.
Re: If there was a "real" league of wales
Would be grim.
Even some decent European runs would leave us a tiny club compared to championship level, unless some miraculous money came into play.
All I can see is that even more of the Cardiff and valleys potential fans would support a prem team and maybe just pop along now and then for the euro qualifiers or whatever.
