The roles of a manager are to to get the best out of the players that he has at his disposal via motivation and matching the tactics to the strength of the squad thus maximising the points that realistically should be won.
To improve the squad via the transfer market within budget with the intention of successfully increasing the points won.

For me it's just about scoring more goals than the opposition. And picking and signing the players to help you get the most points.

Yes basically, you can't make a silk purse out of a pig's ear, and we only had pig's ears available due to a budget and embargo, so couldn't get any silk this season.

Let's hope if he stays he can get some cheap silk from Turkey/Greece/Germany and make a silk purse.
