Are you kidding? Allen was terrible. kept giving the ball away in our own third and was lucky not to give away a penalty.

I stopped counting at the amount of possession he gave away.
Ultimately doesn't matter as we won.

Watch last nights MOTD and Tony Pulis’s take on Joe Allen.
He was our only recognised midfielder on the pitch .
Ramsey roams, Bale drifts, Joe does all the work

Re: Have the old guard run out of steam?
Its interesting to think of what they would have done if Wales had lost on Sunday. I wouldn't have thought that Bale and Allen would have stuck around beyond these Nations League games and Ramsey would probably have been one more long term injury away from retirement too.
Usually I'd say sport and sentiment aren't a good mix but having this World Cup as a final hurrah for a lot of those from the Tosh and ,more importantly, Speed eras (including stalwarts such as Gunter and Williams) feels very fitting to me.
-
Re: Have the old guard run out of steam?
In short, no they will be ready for the world cup. Bale was clearly not fit enough for a game of that intensity and I suspect Rambo having a few niggles and not a massive amount of game time at Rangers.
If we're going to be a tiny bit critical at all maybe we played the wrong formation / starters/ players out of position to get the best out of them.
It reminded me a little bit of that period in the early 90s where we tried to play about 6 forwards - because they were our best individuals rather than what's best for the team.

I don't need another person's take on it, I saw what I saw. He gave the ball away. Not even criticising him for it as like I said we won the game..

There was only one player that I constantly swore at throughout the game and that was Joe Allen. Gave it away so many times, very ponderous on the ball.
I’ve never forgiven him for celebrating in front of me and the rest of Block A mind.

The World Cup is 3 games in 9 days, so I hope somebody is giving a **** There is also the possibility that Williams & Gunter will be blocking the path of players who can make a meaningful contribution on the pitch.

He was still a liability.

Why? It was interesting to hear Tony Pulis go out of his way to praise, Ramsey and, in particular, Allen for how they played on Sunday - Pulis may be a bit one dimensional tactically, but he’s not tactically naive. No disrespect, but I’d take his word over yours and, also, Bluetit’s analysis does seem pretty conclusive.

Brilliant! Please do this for every player and every game. This is better than WOL player ratings.

He went in for a challenge with 2 or 3 Ukrainians and one of them kicked the ball onto his boot
Think it rebounded to Bale
