Your fave football films/scenes EVER!

I liked Jimmy Grimble. What was that film where Ray Winstone played a dodgy manager? It wasn’t a great fim, but I liked it because it was gritty and I reckon it was probably quite true to what football is really like.
Benson and Hedges always make me laugh in Mike Bassett.

Tonkers goal in Mike Bassett makes me laugh.

Re: Your fave football films/scenes EVER!
Shaolin Soccer - a Stephen Chow hong kong comedy about football.
Very over the top and ridiculous but that's the point with his films.

Alan Clarkes The Firm with Gary Oldman. One of the original football hooligan films. Some great one liners it.
Youseff gets his face slashed and when copper asks his name at the hospital he gives a false name - Michael Jackson. Coppers reply "Looks like youre going to be needing some more plastic surgery, Michael"

Re: Your fave football films/scenes EVER!
No one particular scene but the acting and the screen relationship between Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall - who play Clough and Taylor - in The Damned United is superb.

Yes, I think that’s probably one of the better football films. I liked the scene where Leeds turned up for a cup match at Derby and Revie iblanked Clough - dunno how close to the truth it was, but, as a confirmed Revie hater, it was what I wanted to be true.

Porridge - Fletcher and Godber being 'forced' to escape from prison against their will during a football match and trying to get back in.

I read that the Clough family were not very happy with the way he was portrayed in the film.

You seem like the type of person who would enjoy sitting at home fantasising about violence

I'm sure that's where Fletcher is the team coach and shouts to the team
*Don't let them panic you into playing football *
Ronnie Barker comedy genius

Just checked on IMDb and yes. Just ordered a copy on Amazon. Hard to get only on DVD now but I'd like to see it again as I've only seen it the once.

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind watching again, filmed at the Ricoh Arena if I remember rightly.

An honorary mention to Python's Germans v Greeks football match with a late goal by Socrates clinching victory for the Greeks. It was touch and go until Archimedes had a eureka moment and decided to run with the ball. The ball was laid on a plate for Socrates who swept it home from about 8 yards.
