City away trips from hell
QPR fa cup 1990 ish ?
Supporters club coach , everyone was leathered
Got to Chieveley services , place got ransacked
Coach of Swansea City juniors pulls up , City nutter starts up a tarmac roller and tries to drive it into the bus , he's pulled off by a few level headed City fans and City fans block the steps to the bus
The nutters turn their attention to the coppers when they turn up
Bedlam
Eventually the coaches leave , two drunk City fans , one from Porthcawl no longer with us , decide to have a wrestling bout on the back seat . Pop , out comes the entire rear window of the coach , we later find out it lands on the front of a car behind , causing serious damage and the occupants were lucky not to have been seriously injured
Get to the ground , chaos
Seriously over crowded away end
Ian rodgerson scores if I remember
We eventually lose
City fans on pitch chasing David seaman
More bother outside
Freezing journey home with open back of coach
Two weeks later supporters club announce that alcohol is to be banned on all coaches and membership tightened up
I was happy just to get home to bed 🛌

Re: City away trips from hell
Probably with the Rams.... It broke down on city road or somewhere by there and couldn't get a bus to replace it. Luckily it was opposite a pub.

Re: City away trips from hell
I spent virtually all of this game in the Springbock pub as I got thrown out of the ground in the 1st half for pushing apparently. Police were right pr!cks. Walked me around the back all nicely then literally threw me into this police set up behind the away end ripping my shirt and screamed in my face to give my name and address and dont even think of lying. Of course I lied . Loads of City fans in the pub who had been ejected.
Months later I talked to one of those Swansea youth players who was out with a City player I know. He said they absolutely shit themselves.

Re: City away trips from hell
Frankly any trip up north to those towns that would be of no interest to the tourist trade.
Grim doesn’t even begin to describe them and the home support appeared to consist of large lumps who would generally be described as coming from the shallow end of the gene pool.
Always glad to get out of those places in one piece.

Those kids were scared to death as were their parents , it was horrible
Everyone seemed pissed
Was it the same season as Gloucester away ?
That was carnage , felt sorry for the police that night , totally overwhelmed by drunken taffies

Standard Liege away the night before the game. Absolute carnage that night with the Liege fans. Police didn't have a clue. They had a beefy copper in charge that you would never look in the eye. We nicknamed him the Beast of Belgium.

I remember it was a midweek replay? We stopped off at Chieveley services and as Cardiff fans were smashing the place up i was filling a carrier bag up with sarnies and pasties etc for my work box . As i was leaving a few fruit machines went over and were looted i think i when i got home i was about £20 better off than when i'd left the house but most was in 10p coins :hehe::facepalm:

Re: City away trips from hell
Got on a coach organised by Frankie, I believe it was Oxford away, although it might have been Cambridge (it was definitely Oxbridge). We pulled into the Welsh Brewers depot on Newport Road (where he worked) and stocked up with crates and crates of beer. We had all had a good chest-full on the way up and it was quite raucous.
Anyway, a guy I only knew as 'Billy' started doing his 'party piece', which basically meant him pissing in an empty can and uhm.. drinking it!:yikes:
Things really went downhill when we were in a local pub just before the game. It was quite busy with students, as you might expect. The guys on the bus did a whip-around and collected money in a jar - Nick Parsons went to the toilet and brought back a turd on a paper plate with silver serving tongs. Everyone egged Billy on and he took a bite.
I've never seen a pub empty so quickly, everyone was being sick or dry-reaching outside.:puke:

Re: City away trips from hell
Hull away (can't remember the year approx 2002?). Travelled with two coaches full of uncompromising lads from Treorchy. Stopped in Goole for a few pints, spotted by someone and about three riot vans turned up. Train into Hull, escorted through the town (plenty of abuse on the way and even a flash from a local woman). Turned up at the ground at half time to have about 200 locals waiting outside for us. Waiting outside and the Hull fans inside booted the gates open and tried to get at us. Proper rugby league animals, huge all of them haha.
Sounds like a trip from hell now but at the time I absolutely loved it 🤣

Re: City away trips from hell
I was on that coach at Chieveley. I thought that i was proper hard and decided to kung fu kick a plastic bin, those ones with the opening on the side of the bin, at the top. My foot went straight through the hole and got stuck. I've got short legs and i couldn't keep my balance or get my foot out, some city fans tried to pull me out, which made it worse, and my hamstring was tearing. The police dragged me out, my leg was ****ed, they arrested me while all the nonsense was happening. 20 minutes later they released me and told me to 'get on that ****ing bus and behave' I did :hehe: What an absolute tool i was, and ruined a brand new pair of Gazelle trainers. My own fault.

They played Liverpool on the weekend before we went up for the replay and a steward said to us at half time 'I would welcome those scouse cents every week over you sheep shagging cents'

Re: City away trips from hell
Orient 88...first ever away game caught the train to London on my own, clueless 17 yrs old. Saw a few I knew at central so tagged along. Walking through train looking for seats and a whole carriage of old jacks or Newport just started belting us all so had to jump off moving train to escape. Got to London late, as we got off tube there must have been 80 West Ham fans just standing staring at us (game with Chelsea was called off or something weird). Only about 8 of us trying to be cool as coins rained down. Never ran so fast in my life to the ground as they came after us. They’d just had a kicking off the 300 city fans queuing to get in. Major pitch invasion by city fans at end of game, chased West Ham fans who had come to game out of ground, stabbings outside after match. Boy was I glad to get home that day. Right baptism of fire:hehe:....
