Slayer , such a great band when they played things slow

What a fantastic stabbing riff
Shades of death are all I see
Skeletons of society

The song is full of too much widdley widdley wank-wanking geetar.
I'm not sure if The Sensational Alex Harvey Band have ever ome under your radar? I was lucky enough to catch the on their last ever concert, headlining the Reading festival in 1977.
Here's a clip of the guitarist, the extremely under-rated Zal Cleminson, showing how a great guitarist plays the guitar properly. I came across it last night for the first time. The clip is from 2006. I saw them at the Point that year, in Cardiff Bay. Enjoy!

They sound highly competent. I'm not sure what they're going for though. Some of it sounds like metal, some of it sounds like anthemic, radio rock. It kind of has a 90s feel.
What does your grandson play?

He plays most things but is studying jazz saxophone at the college of music in Cardiff
They were looking for a sax player for some new recordings and asked Gilad Hekselman, jazz guitarist who I think lives in New York. He recommended him as they've worked together in the past.

Haven't heard of Tesseract before, checked out two of their songs on YouTube, sounds like they are influenced by Tool, sort of Prog Metal.
Black Sabbath meets Henry Rollins halfway

I had a listen.....hmm, not quite my scene. As an aside some years ago I worked for a pharmaceutical company based in Crawley. The MD was a man called Smith and his son was Robert who sang for The Cure. One Christmas at the usual company lunch Robert and his band played in the canteen, it was a little before he broke into the big time, and people asked him to stop because they couldn't hear themselves speak. Happy days

The cure did some very heavy guitar music which is a surprise to some
Big influence on The Deftones , one of my favourite bands
