Re: Long Haul Flight Prices
we had super cheap flights booked for the summer of the 1st lockdown, under 400 quid to Orlando ( we normally are happy to pay £650 - £700 ) cancelled the 1st lot and got out money back, booked for last year, still decent prices at under £500, couldn't get our money back so got credit, used that credit towards this years flights at just over £800 ish  but its a 1st world issue, so we are ok with that ( they are now £1500 each )
America could help the airline situation ( for US flights ) by binning the testing before you fly
BUT, a few decent deals to be had with the charter airlines like TUI, yesterday they had MAN to MCO for £220 return going this week and next, I guess they are just filling empty seats

If I wanted to book now they'd cost £4,200 each. Also looked at economy flights to Bangkok (for onward to Krabi) in Feb and they are £800 plus each as opposed to pre pandemic £400ish each.
Hope they recover soon.
It will settle down I would expect, but at the moment they probably have big demand as people will have mssed holidays and visiting family and friends are not desperate so they can push the price right up. If you add the staff shortages and costs of fuel and other travel factors its probably the worst time to be going on long haul flights.

The numbers are going up here Mate so I wouldn't bank on it.
I'm back for the Wales game in two weeks, bringing a video test with me.

I don’t even know what that is…:hehe: it’s bound to swing around here again in October just before we fly to Tampa!

If you have tested positive for C19 in the last 60 days ( via a LFT or PCR ) you send proof ( the NHS E.mail or text ) to a " online doctor " and they issue you with a " certificate of recovery " so you dont need to do the Supervised LFT 24 hours before you fly and that might be positive due to recent infection
costs 100 quid for a family of 4
Re: Long Haul Flight Prices
Lots of airlines are cancelling flights daily due under recruitment as a lot of people have left the industry (understandingly) during covid times etc.
As I’m going both long haul and short haul in the coming months it seem to be the short haul destinations where there are multiple flights daily that are getting cancelled - with chaos at the airports.
My family holiday was £4750 when I booked in October and if I try to book it now they want almost £2k more if I booked now!

of course it would be very wrong to " test positive " the month before you fly just to be able to get a recovery cert and I know you would ever do that, as you appear to be a very honest trustworthy type of bloke :hehe:
Re: Long Haul Flight Prices
share prices are recovering for airlines so things must be improving, now cruise companies on the other hand are not :frown:

Re: Long Haul Flight Prices

Of course you could, but as I said you appear to be a very honest trustworthy type of bloke and wouldn't do that  otherwise I would have never have told you about it
