This Vincent Tan bringing in a £12,000 a week wage cap story?
How much truth is in it?
What media outlets have said this?
Have the club itself said it?
Or is it more made up bullshit

A lot of it stems from the "Dark Side" board where certain individuals like to still think they're in the know. One of the players they got info from has left along with a member of staff who used to sing like a canary. Smithies isn't our highest paid player and some of the current salary figures are way off. Apparently Etheridge was on peanuts here, I'd have kept him on that basis and played him as first keeper. I get the odd snippet from a genuine source and post it here, not much is that interesting though 🤣

I wouldn’t give them £12,000 a year on yesterday’s performance

I haven't seen anything from the club saying weve got a 12k cap.
If so seems reasonable. Big if though.

I wouldn’t give them 1200 pence !!

12k a week cap would make us one of the lowest payers in the division if true I think.
but if that's where we need to be to be sustainably run then it is what it is.
you'd have to imagine that Tan is getting a bit tired of paying a million quid a month to a club who aren't anywhere near getting promotion any time soon

You pay bottom half Championship / top half League One wages, that’s where you end up.

on the other hand, if we aren't generating enough revenue to pay more than that then what else are we supposed to do

I blame all those posters on here who won't be attending next season after last Saturday's result :hide:

Performance related pay.
Why wouldn’t you have that in a results based industry.

With finances hit by Covid. A number of teams struggling with FFP I very much doubt it would make us one of the lowest next season.
I suspect most clubs are looking at their finances. 12k a week seems more than reasonable.

Could mean a transfer window with lots of players holding out for the wages they want then signing for clubs on the last day for the wages they can actually get.

A lot of players will have to be realistic over this and not be guided by an agent with his own agenda.
Rather than being a mercenary if it’s more of a level playing field with wages.
Other considerations will have to be taken on board with a move such as opportunity, ambition, facilities, location etc.
Basically what the real world has to consider when taking a job.
