Re: When Did Welsh Football Go 'All Nationalist?'
I always thought he took a break from football in the summer of 2012 to have his ears pinned back, and that his bad back was just a cover story.

Annoying thing if that's true is that "had his ears pinned back, f**k the union jack" works even better

Re: When Did Welsh Football Go 'All Nationalist?'
Following the City all my life there's always been a level of Wales v England every time the Bluebirds walk on the pitch playing an English side.
That's why we sing men of Harlech
Sheep shagging bastards
Oh England is full of shit.
Etc
It's definitely not new.
Ps an olden but golden song.
My old man he told me
All the English got VD.

What about ‘Bless ‘Em All’
Bless ‘em all
Bless ‘em all
The long and the short and the tall
We'll never be mastered by no English bastards
So play up the Blues bless ‘em all
A right old Grange End classic

Re: When Did Welsh Football Go 'All Nationalist?'
I've had some great times following Wales and always will do but there's a definite rise of the nationalist types that are a bit off putting for me personally.
Independence rallies, Dafydd Iwan, Yes Wales or Cymru, Welsh language pushed everywhere, ****ing bucket hats especially can all be binned off for me.

Maybe someone can tie in that song to accepting an MBE.

How dare Welshmen following the Welsh national side push the Welsh language. 🙄

Nothing wrong with the Welsh language (my son who’s 5 is fluent) that being said , I find it off putting and would prefer if we embraced people from all backgrounds even if they are not Welsh but follow Wales. Just like Welsh players who are English.

What’s off putting about singing in Welsh? Who’s not being embraced? We sing plenty of English songs compared to 3 songs in Welsh and the majority of communication and media by the FAW and players are in English. Do you have the same issue with the Manics being invited to perform at games or just Dafydd Iwan?

There will always be an england
There will always be aa king
And there will always be a Taffy
To kick the ****ers in
Not sung as often as the top two though

I’m guessing that one was dropped in 1952.

Despite my accent being more Herefordian than Welsh I've never had any issues supporting Wales, been going since early 80s.
My parents were from Abergavenny and they thought learning the language was a waste of time, as did their parents. But back a further generation or two my Dad's ancestors in Pembrokeshire were all Welsh speakers.
We know the history of why that happened and I think it's great that the Welsh language is now so encouraged and I don't feel threatened by it at all; in fact, quite the opposite, I hope it continues to flourish and spread.
