An impressive and, it would appear, good man who it always struck me was largely able to bridge the Northern Ireland's religious divide.

A truly amazing man. Fiercely intelligent and hugely driven. IRA wanted him dead, loyalists hated him too. But he was willing to speak to the vermin in order to achieve peace

hume openly criticised the IRA and had death threats for it , corbyn thought they had a legitimate struggle .......and a lot of people agreed ......but the press got a sniff and that was that
