Yes, as I say, for it to be just drugs makes no sense, others have been there and taken a ban.
What ever it is I'm sure we won't like it so better not to know.

The truth will out soon enough. I'm amazed its still private.
One things for sure, no matter what he's done someone will take a punt on him when the dust settles.

Re: Mendez Laing Contract Terminated
Mendez releasing a statement and Harris saying his door is always open to Mendez and that he’s comfortable with the decision. Probably something that is clearly a serious breach of contract but probably a bit less than the rumours that have been flying about.
Failed a drugs test and facing a minimal ban of around 6-9 months would be my guess. Club faced with a decision of standing by him, extending his contract and having an asset at the end of it or cutting ties now. My guess would be they took the second option and Mendez fought the decision. Harris said the PFA etc were involved in it. His statement thanked the fans and no reference to the club, Harris etc. Putting two and two together really, but the longer it goes without nothing coming out the less likely it’s anything criminal imo.

With this added information, this is so far the most feasible sounding theory.

I can see that because even if he hadn't been charged yet it would have leaked out from local cops. It would seem a daft act to sack him if it was just that though.
We don't know of course, but we can't help speculating can we. It's such a dissapointment because I thought we had great balance in the squad and this has upset it, not to mention what it might do to morale.
Brian Clough once said that football management is very simple - you just need every single player to be able to do his job. Well we had that ,and I really thought we were going to do well, but I'm less certain now because we're back to relying on some people who may or may not complete the task on any particular day. Without wishing to single the boy out, that applies particularly to Gavin Whyte, who seems the natural replacement.

Apparently Harris started his press conference today saying he could not say much for legal reasons.
Sounds more serious than a simple failed drugs test.

Re: Mendez Laing Contract Terminated
I had a look at a 'standard' players contract and the key things that could be deemed a 'serious breach' seem to be around:
* Lifestyle
* Club Property
* Anti-Doping
* Betting and match manipulation
But as an earlier post said none of us know what happened

But if he used drugs regularly then he would have been caught on a random drugs test before now. In the prem for example I think if a player is called he has a matter of hours to attend rather than days. It just doesn't make sense.
What was found in the car can't hurt him since there's no evidence to connect him with it ( unless it's forensic ).
I'm surprised more hasn't come out yet so maybe it'll be a bit like the mystery of why Sir Neil wouldn't pick Lee Tomlin and we'll never really know

We might not be entitled to an explanation strictly speaking , but it's such a big thing to sack an essential and well loved player that people are bound to look for one.

Re: Mendez Laing Contract Terminated
If the reason for the sacking was “not so bad” and city had over reacted don’t you think that NML would have said something in his statement? The fact that he didn’t say anything speaks volumes.

People cant apply logic when it comes to bashing the club.

Stop speculating like a bunch of Karen's in a supermarket aisle putting the world right buying their bread and shampoo, and just wait and see what comes out. Pointless starting rumours..

You sound just like another poster during the Sala tragedy.... It's ok to lean towards a certain subject, but to add detail, scenario and outcome when you haven't got the first idea really is the work of a cretin. :thumbup:

Why didn't you make us aware of these observations before this situation arose?

What more is there to say at the moment than it must be serious and no doubt we'll find out the reason for the sacking soon - someone, somewhere will spill the beans.

Because one or two (like the experts during the Sala incident) love a bit of drama, and dare i say, Attention at the misfortune of others.

Re: Mendez Laing Contract Terminated
I wonder how much it cost the club to sack him given that contracts are so biased in favour of players.

It depends what he has done, i'm no expert, although i've never known an employee rewarded for gross misconduct, that privilege is only in place for the bosses and chief execs.

I he's been sacked it is for a disciplinary reason and therefore would get nothing. i am sure the club would have followed the correct legal procedures. I think a similar thing happened to Madine last January.
It would then be up to NML to sue the club if he thought he had a case. Maybe he doesn't have a case. His response was via his agent, so maybe he is not around to make a statement?
Having said that, and I am guilty off adding to this thread, he has the right to confidentiality. But he is in the spotlight and fans will be genuinely concerned for him and the club.
-
Re: Mendez Laing Contract Terminated
The lack of condemnation of the club by the PFA speak volumes.

If its nailed on then technically the club could sue NML

Not sure what you mean. I'm emphasising the word. It needed saying, what I quoted, I liked it so I emphasised it.

I have heard something that I am absolutely convinced will be true, makes sense etc but it's still not worth speculation. It will all come out I am sure.

Classic post I’ve been expecting. You say you are ITK, but don’t say what it is, then when it all comes out you can say “I knew that weeks/months ago, but couldn’t say anything at the time” ! 😂😂😂😂

I definitely ain't ITK. I just believe the story I've been told, I'll PM you if you like. Point being I don't think we need to be discussing it. If others disagree then that's fine people are free to post what they like.
