Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 3 HULL CITY. Match thread

Myself and my brother have season tickets and we were both not there. I have had a cold this week and combined with the train strike and the recent poor performances decided not to go. Both of us...

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 0 - 2 SUNDERLAND. Match thread

Just watched the 'highlights' on Sky and that must be one of the softest penalties ever. There seemed to be the faintest of touches in the back from Goutas - who had given the ball away in the first...

    Re: England's new kit

Italy chose blue shirts because blue is the colour of the House of Savoy - the Italian royal family. The nickname for the Italians is the Azzurri or the Blues.

The Dutch play in orange because the...

    Re: England's new kit

I have always thought that the blue for England's shorts came from the Union Jack and of course the blue part of the Union Jack is from the Scottish flag.

    Re: Shirt Pulling

It would be interesting to see the effect if a team had shirts that ripped at the slightest contact. It would make it obvious as to who was having his shirt pulled.

This has been going on for years and I have never understood why it is not classed as obstruction.

What a pitch. That was a proper Ninian Park pitch. It seemed to be like that for most of the 70s.
  8. Re: The question on all of your lips - leap year fixtures

Wrexham Welsh Cup at home on 29 February 1956. 5-3 to Cardiff

    I think that is it.
  9. Re: The question on all of your lips - leap year fixtures

And another Huddersfield away 29 February 1964. 2-1 to Huddersfield.
  10. Re: The question on all of your lips - leap year fixtures

Burnley Home 29 February 1992 in Division 4. 2-0 to Burnley and a crowd of 16,030

    Re: Cardiff City 1970

The away game in Nantes was midweek (4 November) after the Hull game (31 October) and before the QPR game (7 November). The Nantes game was won 2-1 with goals from Toshack (12) and Brian Clark (76)....

Agree I thought the same that he was much better until Preston scored. Has he been carrying an injury - he was out for a while and maybe he has not fully recovered.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v PRESTON NORTH END. Match thread

Same scoreline but the opposite way round this time. An amazing coincidence as well is that Cardiff were 13th in the Second Division going into the game both times. Only 12,897 there in 1968 compared...

Re: CARDIFF CITY v PRESTON NORTH END. Match thread

56 years to the day since Brian Clark made his home debut in a 2-0 win over Preston (10 February 1968), scoring in 9 minutes - John Toshack scored the other after 88. Also the first game I attended....

Re: Being in front and behind in games this season

There are some brilliant stories on there. One I liked this week was a guy who catches a bus from south London to central London every day. The journey is of the order of an hour, on a double decker,...
  17. Re: Season at its lowest ebb so far as Bulut’s Cardiff roll out the welcome mat for Leeds.

At times yesterday it was if many of them had never met before. Passes into space and the intended recipient had not moved. No one moves for throw ins - how many times do Cardiff have a throw in...

A lot of players do that now. It is reckoned that they do it to remove pressure on the calves.

  23. Re: All so predictable as Cardiff brushed aside by Champions elect.

Almost the first time Cardiff had an attack at pace Harry Winks pulled the Cardiff player back (Grant I think). This was just inside the Cardiff half. I was surprised that Winks was not booked....
  24. Re: Most iconic goals scored by each of the home countries

Brian Flynn against the Jocks at Ninian Park in 1975 in the 2-2 draw. It was shown for years afterwards. I think the Jocks were about the loudest crowd I have ever heard that day.
  25. Re: CARDIFF CITY v BIRMINGHAM CITY. Match thread

Bowler looks as if he is carrying an injury to me. I always find it interesting when players who have finished playing, reveal just how much of their careers they were playing with injuries.
