The IRA killed around 2,000 people. Now I'm Catholic and on the great grandfather rule, could've made a Jack Charlton Ireland side in the 90's, but I'm not a terrorist.

Islamic terrorists have killed, albeit just in the UK, 54 people.

Now that's 54 too many obviously, but I'm just using that statistic to demonstrate why, relatively speaking, our collective fear is disproportionate to the risk.

Maybe it's because for the younger generation this is their first experience of a terror threat on our streets? Or maybe it's because the IRA were white?

Alot of the IRA deaths on Mainland British soil was not intentional, they were bombs to distrupt, never kill innocent people, the innocent people were in the wrong place at the wrong time and normally because of botched " coded warnings " mainly with the police

They wanted to disrupt and cause terror on the mainland without casualties of " non-combatants "

lets face it, any death in them " troubled times " was 1 death too many, be in army, police or civilian, either on mainland or either side of the border in Ireland

They should all have their passports taken away as a minimum.

Same should apply to any British passport-holder serving in the uniform of a foreign country, not just those who join non-recognized irregular armies like ISIS. How can anyone serve in a foreign military and still keep their British passport and nationality? British law allows it though.

Why don't somebody make them all disappear ?

If they have committed a crime they should face the full rigours of the law.

If we start 'disappearing' people that have not been convicted of any crime we are no better than them. Who sets the moral standards of this country - us or the Jihadists?

If we decide that 'disappearing' people is acceptable, who do we 'disappear' next? It's a very slippery road to be going down.

We should be looking towards justice, not revenge.

And on a more pragmatic note - if we start 'disappearing' people, what will be the consequences. Will it be a deterrent or will it simply radicalise more people?

I despair about this world at times.
