Good comebackOriginally Posted by BlueWales wrote on Thu, 23 July 2015 20:13
Corbyn would be destroyed by the press so is a non starter although my views are closer to his than the other leadership candidates.
Nationalisation = socialism = East Germany.
What joy
I want Liz to win.
I realised yesterday I actually fancy her.
Capitalism = neoliberalism = USA.
What joy
Cooper seems everything labour need (experienced, central, female) but is also the only one who hasn't expressed any strong opinions or emotions yet.Originally Posted by Pearcey wrote on Thu, 23 July 2015 20:30
Umm... taking things to an extreme and not to mention that you ignored stuff like social policy.Originally Posted by Lt Col Kojak Slaphead III wrote on Thu, 23 July 2015 20:36
Yep I look forward to the day when the right wing press has had its day.Originally Posted by surge wrote on Thu, 23 July 2015 21:06

Damn that Jeremy Corbyn with his integrity, deeply held beliefs and honest spin free opinions. That bastard is tearing the Labour Party apart.
What we really need is more style over substance and slick TV performers.

I know Alfie but the press will turn many against him.
Really we should live in a country where you don't have to chose between supporting granddad or daughter but that's beside the point.Originally Posted by BlueWales wrote on Thu, 23 July 2015 21:43
They will indeed sadly and aside from Corbyn's opinions on foreign policy and his feelings on the whole bogus premise for austerity, I think many of his ideas are tied up in a flawed ideology. But, it is entertaining watching sycophantic Blairites pulling themselves to pieces. Pulling themselves to pieces in the face of a decent, honest principled man.Originally Posted by [quote title=Pearcey wrote on Thu, 23 July 2015 22:15
Another Micheal Foot beckons, if Jeremy Corbyn wins, he last no time as the country has moved on from those 70's type politics ,and in comes the stalking horse Chuka ,n , moment who strangely withdrew , that's how Tony Blair got in ,its like a cleansing moment.
Labour have completely lost their way over this. Principle, Policy or is the only P word that means anything Power? 'We must listen to the people' - certainly doesn't inspire me.
It's interesting though that many of 'extremist,' 'hard left' Corbyn's suggested policies are actually ones that land well with the British public. Railway re-nationalisation, the scrapping of tuition fees, a 50p tax rate for the highest earners, non military intervention in the Middle East would all be vote winners.
Chuka is young, attractive, black and eloquent in a time when Brits have been envious of America having Obama. However, Obama has/had something under the surface.Originally Posted by ragbone wrote on Thu, 23 July 2015 22:38
Labour would win back scotland with Corbyn. It would give the Tory government the biggest majority ever.
I hope Labour remain a real threat to the Tories, that means re-taking the centre ground.
Love him or loathe him, Corbyn answers straight questions with straighter answers than I can recall any politician doing for a very long time. None of this "we must reconnect with the middle ground and not veer to the left or right' nonsense when asked what his policies are - he actually comes out and says what his policies are.
Another refreshing plus is despite the shit being hurled at him he has stayed above all the personal insult crap.
It is a shame his age is against him in the long term but hopefully people will take a leaf out of his book on plain speaking. If he wins the others have to realise that their management speak non committal gobbledygook played a part in their defeat.
Not so sure about the Tory press thing. The press are currently loving his honesty. Might be different when competing with Tories as opposed to other Labour types. But at least with Corbyn they would have to do their homework to challenge his ideas. For the last five years and probably more I have not had a clue what Labour's ideas and policies actually were.Originally Posted by BlueWales wrote on Thu, 23 July 2015 21:43

Jeremy Corbyn is one of the few people connected with this contest, coming across with dignity and principles.
If Labour feels the need to be more centric then people may as well vote lib dem or tory.
Labour's roots, imho, are left wing. imho integrity means stating your core beliefs and sticking to them, not compromising on them for personal gain.
