Considering how litigious the lawyers in the states are, even before we get into the personal stress, public health considerations ETC, we could be looking at eleven million people asking for their money back or looking for a replacement. Even at a conservative ten thousand dollars per car that's £110,000,000,000. Even VW don't have pockets that deep. Add to that all the usual bull shit that goes along with these things and it could bring the company down. There is also a suggestion the the German government were complicit in the deception.

Now wait for the phone calls asking you if you were a victim of the VW miss selling scandal.

I think ZZ is right. Apart from anything else they have deliberately broken Federal laws. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the company go to the wall over all this.

Also bear in mind that for people who have company cars, an element of their tax is based on emissions, meaning that the government has under-collected tax from VW company car drivers.

If so it seems to me that either:

A. VW are really shit at making engines

or

Blue matt even though your cars were petrol you are in someway effected if you still have the car as the value will go down, in the us that's enough to take them to court.


I would like to see cars tested again and VW have to back pay the extra tax due and have to continue paying the extra tax for the life of the car.

VW will be on its knees, and rightly so for being so dishonest. It will survive and in 1020 years will be back to full strength.

I have just had a customer pull the plug on a deal on new transporter as he wants to see how this thing pans out.

I have an order in for a Caravelle for myself and am considering cancelling it , if the residuals drop dramatically I will have a very expensive white elephant on my toes.
