There has been a great deal of interesting debate on this forum. This referendum has engaged people far more than any election in recent times.

However, name-calling, blame and recriminations are now pointless. We are in a situation where the country has voted to leave, and so we must leave the EU as it stands. That's quite straightforward.

I am at something of a loss to suggest anyone as a leader of the UK at the moment, particularly as the UK appears about to disappear with Scotland going independent and Northern Ireland joining the Republic as one Ireland, so that they can have what they see as the benefits of EU membership.

However, these are fascinating times, and our nations still need and are needed by our near neighbours in Europe. It would be good to see constructive suggestions for the future of England and Wales, as opposed to bitchy arguments with regard to the casting of a vote we can now do nothing about.

As a nation we have made a decision. That's what we have to address.
