But Murdoch was the difference for the end result. Had he backed the remain campaign the result would be quite different I believe. I cannot agree that the media are unanimously one sided. The BBC's remit is to be impartial and they were. So the most potent force in the UK is Uncle Rupert. If the free market media were dominating one direction, I would argue that it was in support of Brexit.
Perhaps a lot of Brexiters kept their views to themselves for fear of being labelled bigots. The irony highlighted in the article makes a good point on this. But lets be honest, while there are a lot of smart and righteous voices in the Brexit camp, there is a chunk of the Brexit vote share who's motivation has nothing to do with sovereignty v globalization. The press an the public should not be gagged and prevented from pointed this very obvious point out.
