It doesn’t look a strong side on paper, but the last two games in particular have looked pretty comfortable. A fit Lloyd would help address the thin looking bowling attack (looks like Ingram’s bowling days must be over). If Van Der Gugten is fit, then I don’t see how he can be left out. Think Salter will come back when the leg spinner leaves (read somewhere he was only here for three games).

It’s rare for Glammy to chase down such a large score with such ease. At Cardiff 189 is very much a top end score but they won so comfortably. Fair play to Ingram. I thought he was finished two seasons ago but he really is back to his best. Cooke has always been a high class batsman. He averages just under 40 in first class cricket. He and Ingram have now put on almost 300 undefeated runs in the past two games at something mad like 15 runs an over.

Agree about Cooke being top class, championship wise he seems to be getting better if anything.

Do think he's lacked intent in T20 for years mind, seemed to be content at run a ball and wait til over 18 year before hitting out. I'm guessing Alleyne has backed them to express themselves and Cooke seems to be one of the biggest beneficiaries. So nice to see him coming out and playing his shots

I'd be looking to use Horton more this season - there aren't too many thirty seven year old wicketkeepers around these days and maybe we should think of using Cooke as a specialist batsman?

If Horton could be fitted in it could definitely be worth looking at. As you correctly say, there aren't too many 37 year olds combining both. Must be a fair strain on the body, especially when combined with a long innings. I wonder if Cooke himself might be a bit reluctant to give up the gloves mind, considering it took him so long to get them off Wallace in the first place.

Just had a Google of Mark Wallace to double check when cooke actually got the gloves. I hadn't actually realised they were so close in age, Wallace 41, Cooke 37. We did quite well as a club to keep Cooke as a specialist batsman for all those years, must've been a few counties sniffing around him with the offer of playing wicketkeeper.

Tough game tonight against Surrey. Byrom out, so looks like on of :ul Hasan, Taylor or gorvin will replace him. Interested who will join northeast to open. Must be a temptation to keep Carlson,Ingram and Cooke as 3,4 and 5 considering how well they are doing. Wouldn't mind seeing Douthwaite or root given a go at opening, or maybe ul Hasan considering he did well opening in the championship . A win tonight would set us up fantastically !
