That is a very interesting set of graphs. Very worrying that the 20 somethings in all 6 countries value (what they understand to be) democracy so little.... and what is going on in New Zealand?

I think most of the Brexit and Trump supporters are wrong - but for a lot of them they thought they were 'taking back' something and claim they were reclaiming democracy from faceless bureaucrats, civil servants, commissions, experts or 'the liberal elite'. Their profile was older, whiter and less educated - although not the poorest. The 'remain' and 'Clinton' campaigns picked up a much higher proportion of the under 40s - including those 20 somethings above. It is a bit of a surprise to me that the people who seem to want to be led by authoritarian right wing populists may value 'democracy' more than the people who defend inclusion, pluralism and liberal values (even if the figureheads for that view are as rich and corrupt as the other lot!).
