Absolutely.

If Wenger came out now and announced he was stepping down at the end of the season, we'd see a couple of months of 'Wenger appeciation' (fans thanking him with chants & banners, Sky Sports showing 'best-of' programmes about him) and a final send-off game in May.

If he tries to stay he'll be booed off most games and be seen in a poorer light when their fans look back at his tenure.
