Away from the chess masters greatest insight into the political landscape of today , lets just take the simple mutterings of the snakes and ladders north Cardiff champion Fred Lowercase when in 1987 , he say "its all shit, and murky, until the truth is found at the bottom of the ladder , or by the venom of the snake "

At least half the country is attacking Boris Johnson for what he says and what he does, but the civil service and other parts of the state apparatus are just getting on with whatever job they have been given by this barely functioning government. They are certainly not obstructing him, whatever their personal views.

Maybe you are conflating 'the state' with the legislature and the judiciary - who are making Johnson's life difficult by holding him to account and applying the law?
He's not my Boris he's the creation and love child of every MP who have successfully stalled us leaving Europe and allowed the loon in , mind you it will soon be loon v loon in the next election , such fun.

And then you can have a right strop/moan at the result for the next five years of purgatory.

These clowns don't even know what the definition of a deep state is, they have been watching too many James Bond movies

What you're describing as 'the deep state' could be from an episode of Yes Minister!

They should do after you helpfully posted a definition of it on here yesterday. Having read said definition, I must admit to being somewhat surprised because I had assumed the deep state you're always talking about was a modern day phenomenon, but, if that definition is correct, I must tell you that I studied a play Shakespeare wrote four hundred and twenty years ago in which an equivalent of the deep state was involved for my English A level back in the early seventies.

If what you allege is true, then, of course, it's a huge story, but it strikes me as naive to assume that the sort of thing that may have been plotted against Donald Trump is some sort of first - people have been plotting against their leaders for thousands of years.

It's big due to the global nature of it all, and the possiblity that powerful intel surveillance systems were used illegally against their own citizens. That is why Barr is investigating the predicate event that triggered the Trump Russia Collusion investigation. Any nativity would be on the part of those who don't think this is a big deal, as it concerts the collective rights of every citizen. If Trump could be stitched up, then anybody can.

There we go the new friendly face of socialism
( thought the right wing were the nasties when it came to throw away language and insults).

How does your reply amount to an educated response ??

Just because someone has an alternative view you dont have to lower ones standards to child like one liners .

Strange as your debate can be is very intresting and well positioned .

Perhaps you should retire from reading and responding to WB points , if its effecting you so badly.

    I thought it was funny.

Meanwhile, although it'll be dismissed as just the Guardian, I think this bloke is spot on - I await replies defending the indefensible.

Not sure you should be playing the bastion of moral judgement this week bearing in mind your comments which were apologetic in nature for the allegations against Boris Johnson re groping.

It's a great narrative. All a democratican plot. They're trying to overthrow the president.

Unfortunately most of the evidence and movement in the intelligence agencies has come from trump appointed republican officials. But let's not let that get in the way of a witch hunt, eh?

Don't get too excited, they've got another 50 on standby. This is Kavanaugh on steroids, they're just waiting for Avenatti to show up!

Seems to me that the issue is not what Trump said because he has more or less admitted that he has been asking leaders of other countries to dig the dirt on the Bidens and/or undermine the Mueller Report and more about whether what he did merits impeachment.

President Trump is the chief law enforcement officer in the USA, and he has every right to ask Ukraine to look into any historic corruption that targeted the United States. 2020 election interference is a Democrat construct, and the narrative is being pushed by a complient media. If Trump gets impeached over this I will eat my hat.

Why? Has something changed? Do we know more about Russian interference in the 2016 election and who collaborated with them (note: a different 'C' word)? Has the extent of Trump's attempts to obstruct justice become clearer? Do tell - my Italian is non-existent.

But even if Trump-Russia has cooled then Trump-Ukraine (with Trump-China in the wings) has really warmed up.

A bad day/week/month for your boy Trump!

Attorney General Barr met with the heads of the Italian security services in Rome to discuss a conspiracy theory. You'd have thought they would have something better to do than sit around chatting about Trump's fantasies all day
