many historians have stated that there is no evidence of any similar requirements in the Roman empire of people being made to return to the town their ancestors lived in for a census it is almost certainly a fabrication.
now you are also mentioning they might have been from another Bethlehem in Galilee - so which is it? which Bethlehem was Jesus born in?
