If games are cancelled due to the weather they are registered as a 0-0 draw. Bullshit! Our game against Uruguay could be affected. We’d almost certainly finish 2nd if that were the case
That would be a disgrace and totally unacceptable.

Agreed. I’d hope this is a last resort option and they could relocate the games to another unaffected geography

There has to be a fairer way though?
Average score of last 5 matches?
We beat them by 50 odd points in the past. Shame to lose that kind of point difference.

..I agree..a 4 yearly World Cup could be decided by the weather..ridiculously.

I believe the worst of the weather is due on saturday and is expected to hit the southern end of Japan. We should be OK

I should have added it will hit from right to left which should slow the wind if not the rain

Fiji off to a flyer vs Wales currently 5 nil.
Thought the Welsh disallowed "try" for knock on was harsh though.

    Great start lads. Feck sake

Yellow card against Owens for dangerous tackle. Not a great start at all.

Owens went low in the tackle (seems to be the directive this WC due to the head injuries suffered) and the result was momentum of Fiji player flipped him over

    Edit: Another try for Fiji

Not quite sure they only looked at one angle for the try and multiple for the yellow card. That one angle didn't look conclusive

    Excellent catch from Adams

Wales up half time 14-10 and Fiji blowing a bit just before the whistle went, but we don't look like a team that are going to the latter stages if this tournament today - we definitely could still lose this.

I do agree. Perhaps It's a mental thing?
Looks like Fiji are right up for it and had a good start.

I must say that the game is very stop start with the officials being very picky, even more than usual. This hasn't suited Wales.

    Edit: try Fiji (again!)

unless this ref gets subbed Wales will struggle to win, seems to have an eye for fiji at the moment.

The linos too. That last Wales try wasn't even close to touch.
There was also a lineout given 1st half which they only showed a replay of once and it was offloaded well before he was bundled into touch.

Saying that I'm not sure I know the rules any more.
One thing I have noticed in this WC is that nobody seems to care about feeding your hooker in the scrum nor whether the lineout is straight.
They have also changed the forward pass ruling back to what it says on the tin as opposed to whether the hands are try line side.

    So much down to interpretation.

Fiji are playing like it's a 7's game. Great to watch for the neutral (and England )

Not Wales best performance but such a good match to watch. Going back to the office the only bad part.

Job done. Fiji deserve some credit, was an entertaining game.

Years gone by we would have been sweating at the end there but good game management from about 60 minutes.
Also did well to come back from the shock of being 10-zip early doors.

Qualified as winner of the group though barring a monumental balls up against Uruguay so all well so far.

England or France in the quarters.

It is going to be tough games all the way after the Uruguay game.

Re: Rugby Word Cup 2019 thread.

I think sometimes the standard of play is affected by the players own perception of the opposition no matter how much the management say it isn't. After the Australia game this was always going to be considered a step down even if not a 'formality' and we have all seen how that can come back to bite a team in any sport. The 10 - 0 score line reflects that I believe,

    Edwards must have been furious!!!

But I don't think the standard of play should be used as a measure of how we might fare in the QF. That, as they say, will be a whole new ballgame.

Agreed, and Fiji would have also been up for it as well so also deserve credit, rather than people saying wales were just crap.

I’m sure whoever we play in the QF they will be up for it.
