I'm certain he never played fullback under Sir Neil. But I honestly can't remember him playing anything near 90mins before that!

I remember he came on early in a home game at right back, due to someone getting injured I think. He’d been injured for ages, but I knew he had scored something like 35 goals in Scotland from right back so I was looking forward to seeing him. He was bombing forward and I was excited by him. I always thought it was his first game for us, but I could be wrong. I also remember him right wing back in a 5 at home.
Just checked. The game I’m on about was Millwall 0-0. His debut was a few days before, a 1-0 away win against boro and he came in for NML.
His first two starts were at right back for us in 2017/18 and he played one more game at right back that season. That's it, just three games at full back.

Agree with the “laughable” comment. Anyway, Warnock publicly said that Paterson couldn’t tackle. Not helpful and not a particularly clever thing to do in my view. It might be true but there’s no need to say it. He may well have played more times for Scotland at full back as a Cardiff City player than he did for us. As a further thought has his international career come to a halt ? I don’t recall any recent selections. Perhaps Scotland don’t want to pick a full back who has been publicly denounced as not being able to tackle. Or, perhaps they have realised that, great bloke that he may be, he is a jack of all trades master of none.
I've always thought he'd make a cracking, attack minded, wing back for City in a team playing with three centrebacks (the one on the right would have to be good mind!) and I reckon I'll be able to keep on thinking it until he leaves us, because I can never see it happening.
According to Transfermarkt, Paterson started two games at fullback for us in the 2017/18 season: at home against Ipswich and Preston. He made two more substitute appearances at fullback in that season: at home against Hull and Millwall.
It's a bloody pity he can't play there , I wonder how he would be at centre back ??
If he played there, Etheridge would need to be recalled. We'd need a good penalty saver.

I've always thought he should be given another go as a right back, was given one or two games there after a long injury to be dismissed as "can't defend" by Warnock.
To be fair he would have been seeing him in training as well.
