People 80% less likely to be hospitalised with Omicron over Delta https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...alflow-organic

Hopefully this is the way the variants go and it gets steadily weaker (no idea if that's how these things work mind)

The announcement brushed over implications for theatres etc. I’ve already had ice skating (castle) and WMC show cancelled. I hear the Panto is off too.

You can still get it, what I’m seeing a lot more is One adult in a house testing positive but the other not, even if both kids have it.
Good news about it being mild, not so much from a right now point of view but in the virus’s overall journey, a heavy cold or flu is what we want it to start to become like other coronavirus.

Went to see new Spider-Man movie with the kids today, usually it would be packed this time of year. Reckon there was 10 other people there…..

Apparently there was a massive queue (over 2 hours just to get in the building) at the mass vaccination centre in the bay this afternoon. This is despite the appointment system and them supposedly not accepting walk-ins.

More importantly, was it any good? I've enjoyed a lot of the spiderman films over the years (Toby Maguire - Spiderman II is brilliant).

Oh, yeah, Covid sucks. Just to pretend this is on topic.

I had a 1920 appointment, got there about 1910, got jabbed at 2130. Huge queue although it did keep moving so wasn't too demoralising

People who have tested positive for coronavirus in Wales will not be able to leave isolation as early as those can in England.

She said they wanted "to take a kind of more risk averse approach if we can, in trying to continue to put a brake on Omincron as much as possible." FFS this kind of stuff is awful. It's meaningless crap.

I wonder if she really said Omincron as is quoted in the article?

Looking at that graph cases are now heading for double the numbers last winter. And they’re saying hospitalisations so far are 50%-70% lower. So the slightly cautious tone appears understandable in that case.

Re: Coronavirus update - ALERT LEVEL ZERO

New cases have shot up to nearly 7,000 in Wales with about one in three tests being positive.

My #3 son had his 3rd Jab Tuesday, felt unwell Wednesday (we thought due to the jab), PCR test yesterday, positive result today. Family Christmas cancelled!

He works in a pub (in Wales) only time he’s been out of the house in the last week was to work & get his jab!

Caught covid queuing for a jab….. unbelievable Drakeford out

Re: Coronavirus update - ALERT LEVEL ZERO

Very high new cases figures today, but is it down to things being a bit out of sync so to speak because of Christmas?

Re: Coronavirus update - ALERT LEVEL ZERO

Bigger worry for NHS outside of the Virus is the depth of non covid cases building up and the effects of the publics mental issues arising from this continued restrictions and lockdown worries , the longer it goes on the worse this will be in years to come for people and the UK , and dare I say job losses and dressing and anxiety due to the economy taking more hits.

If the new variant is weaker perhaps do need to re think this and get life back on track .

I note USA now has self isolation down to 5 days , England 7 .

Terrible stuff you hear quite a lot these days. Omicron 70% less likely to go into hospital yet still we have restrictions. Know a few that reckon they’ve had it, heavy cold, 4/5 days, off you go…..long term I think we need to harass mp’s to fund the nhs more, state it’s in at the moment we could have restrictions every winter regardless of covid.

Re: Coronavirus update - ALERT LEVEL ZERO

Just looked at the infection rates and vaccination rates for areas in London.

Not only are their infection rates through the roof but double jabs rates are miles lower than around here. Talking about around low 60%.

    Why?

Re: Coronavirus update - ALERT LEVEL ZERO

just back from watching " Spiderman " the screen was full, as in not a spare seat

very strange having a stranger sat next to me, Ive been to see films in the summer but they were leaving a spare seat between bookings, but filling the rows ( so someone sat directly behind you )

I guess if someone had covid , a fair few more have caught it now, but everyone knew the risks of going
