Once Upon a Virus....the war of words could be ramping up
https://youtu.be/bK3cIoXccr8
Regarding wearing a mask, UK scientist's are saying there is only a marginal impact. It would be interesting to see what that is based on but would suggest wearing one is more about social politeness rather than health benefits?
"January: we discovered a new virus." January is a relatively long period of time with WHO outlining public health emergency of international concern on 30/01/2020. This video starts in 2019 so will be interesting to see if we ever get to find out what and when China told WHO and then subsequently WHO told the world.
""Chinese officials have released genome data which, they say, show that a recent outbreak in Beijing was a European strain. But some scientists are cautious over drawing early conclusions about the alleged link
Italian scientists said that sewage water from two cities contained coronavirus traces in December, long before the country's first confirmed cases. ""
Its always someone else's fault ,one should not forget the direct trading links the city of Wuhan and North Italy and then that connection the to rest of Europe

In addition Calum Semple was interviewed on the BBC and said that the doubling time was 7 days with this new variant as against 12- 14 days with the other variant(s) they are familiar with.
(Hope this post meet with your approval Bob!!)
So, what you're saying then is that your party political point scoring messages regarding Keri Starmer were a bit pointless and unjustified - Johnson and Drakeford were right to take the actions they did. I don't normally need any second invitation to criticise Johnson, but I haven't and won't over this - it's ridiculous to compliment Johnson on the one hand and then look to slag Labour off on the other when both parties have made very similar decisions.
I've just read a thread on twitter where it's being suggested Londoner's can travel just as long as they've booked a house viewing in another part of the country and can even cancel the viewing on arrival. Earlier in the week the Tory MP tried to argue that their Christmas party was in fact a business lunch.
Just how much hard work is going into getting around the guidance/rules?! Is that why the UK is currently ranked towards worst performing countries?
I never said Boris and Drakeford were wrong to take the action they did,
I was in fact criticising Sir Keir for slagging off the UK Government when not saying anything when the Labour administration in Wales does something similar. I realise he has no actual control over the Welsh government but you would have thought they would have both sung from the same hymn sheet.
And just to ( I hope) clarify things my original post which stimulated some debate to which you then responded to said
"I presume That If Keir Starmer is criticising Boris about the late Christmas change, he has also been on the phone to tell Mark Drakeford off for doing the same???
He avoided a question about the response of the devolved administrations on Sky this morning.
I don't trust either of the leaders of our two main parties at all. Different characters, both untrustworthy."
As you see no criticism of Drakeford aqnd in my final paragraph criticism of BOTH main parties
The point I'm trying to make is that although some people like to put graphics up saying comparing it to other diseases which weren't reported in the same way, the fact remains that countries across the world are taking unprecedented steps to combat it which suggests that isn't the media lie that they suggest.
Yes, guy from school on Facebook who never left my home town, congratulations on sharing the fact that you know that flu currently kills a lot more than the coronavirus. I'm going to take more notice of the actions of governments advised by medical experts though ta
OK, fair enough and I agree that it is pointless comparing this with cancer and diabetes as some are doing.
However, I also agree that the news outlets are not giving out many facts other than number of cases, number of deaths. Number of recoveries is also important.
Also, I'd like to hear more from those that have recovered. Were they very sick, were they not sick at all?
And, I'd like to know more about the cases in Italy, are people's symptoms getting worse - i.e. is the illness mutating. The death rate in Italy is 39% of closed cases, worldwide that is 6% but that is factoring in the Chinese lies, Iranian lies. South Korea is 19%. UK is 25% at the moment. But, is that because we don't consider a person recovered until they test negative etc, or is it because there is something else going on?
Once I get all these sorts of facts, I can make a decision about whether or not this is something I need to lose sleep over.
I also think some countries should be left off these stats because their accuracy is in question.
Yes, in short. Why should the action of a single Government make me more or less worried than the actual stats.
For example, someone who tested positive said it was like a cold, another like the flu. The question, why is the death rate so high in Italy is a valid one. Are significantly more older people getting the disease there for example. I could run out and buy loads of loo roll and pasta.
Of course number of recoveries are important but no one's suggesting we're all going to die from Coronavirus. In comparison with a lot of other diseases it (hopefully) will have a lower mortality rate BUT socially and financially it could be devastating, and already is to several countries. Italy's completely quarantined, what effect do you think that will have on its economy? Or China's?
I work in TV and Film, I'm Freelance. We started prep on a new show on Monday, we shoot in a few weeks until mid June. If one of our crew gets it, or an extra is revealed to have had it we'll likely have to isolate loads of people, worst case scenario shooting stops, it gets postponed until god knows when, millions of pounds lost, loads of people out of work.
That is a worst case scenario but we'll be dealing with hundreds of people in a load of different locations for this, if it continues to spread then there's a reasonable chance that someone will know someone who has it. And that's true of every workplace in the UK/the world. THAT'S why it's getting reported in a way that's out of sync with the fatality rate
Why do you say that? Oh, yeah, you're trying to be smart by being flippant.
Of course recoveries are important. Recovery rate, and length of time to recover will be a huge factor in determining how many people will be too sick to work at one time. But you just concentrate on the headlines mate.
