    Grocery delivery

Found it a bit of a nightmare trying to book these, not been able to book deliveries with any supermarkets at all, bit of a ball ache during enforced isolation. Just managed to order a food box from morrisons for delivery on Saturday, looks like they still have availabilty in Cardiff. Thought I'd share in case anyone else is struggling to book a slot.

These stores are multi-million pound conglomerates, why don’t they get taxies to do deliveries ?????

Shirley they’d jump at it as their takings are down

    Or anyone with a van

sure people would love to get out of the house ( whilst adopting safe social distancing ) for a few hours delivering boxes of food, just pay them mileage and the supermarket gives a donation to a food bank etc etc

So you got a refrigerated truck, along with everyone else, to pick your shopping up.

Book, load, deliver !!!! They don’t have to do multiple deliveries

So there are plenty of refridgerated trucks and food is plentiful so the shortage must be drivers.
Why not get a bunch of taxi drivers to do the deliveries, there must be thousands twiddling their thumbs

Don't you need a special license to drive trucks?

    Yes.

Class 1 also known as a cat C+E.
Class 2 also known as a cat C.
Class C1 licence will allow you to drive up to a 7.5 tonne truck.

No you don’t need a special license to drive 3.5 refrigerator home delivery vans

I was answering a question asked about trucks, not vans.

No but that’s the regulation for these. If they can’t do multiple journeys every trip will be a 2 hour round trip.

Im sure you know more about shopping deliveries than multi million pound coming Ocado

Why not get on the blower and give them some advice.

I can see you’re a glass half empty type of person !!

These are hard times and in hard times you pull together and make things work.

I’m not saying for taxis to do multiple drops, but help with smaller drops to desperate recipients.

PS:———- You still supporting outsiders riding/driving to cafes ?????

Only asking, as you never replied !

    Re: Grocery delivery

I have to self isolate for 14 days. We have hardly any food in because of the queues and panic buying. Tried online, but no delivery slots anywhere. What a shambles. And, to top it all off, it's only cos my daughter has a cough - no other symptoms.

It's a nightmare - I stayed up till 12 the other night and kept refreshing - but as soon as the new days slots came up they were full already.

Yep. Thing is, I was also doing the shopping for my parents. Now, I can't. They are trying online, I've been trying online. I managed to get a slot tomorrow morning (£7 delivery, not sure if that is new from Tesco) and ordered loads of stuff.

I went on this morning to add an item, and half of my previous order was removed because the items are no longer in stock.

My parents are having even worse luck.

At no stage have I seen questions about being vulnerable, or in self isolation, or anything that moves people ahead of others who are just staying at home and not going out shopping at all.

But, Croesy is claiming supermarkets are doing exactly that! He still can't explain how that's working either.

I didn’t support anyone driving to a cafe that was you!

Each supermarket have already given desperate people priority, it’s why healthy people can’t get a slot.

How does that work then - I've been on
Morrisons - fully booked 2 weeks
Asda - Fully booked 9 days
Tesco - Fully booked 3 weeks
    Sainsbury's - fully booked.

I wonder how many people have to break their self-isolation just to get food?
