Arsenal were named after woolwich arsenal football club I believe , found in the south east of london where they used to make guns and ammunition

They then moved to north london

I believe the original team was workers from the Arsenal who formed a club to play. A bit like West Ham. and Sheffield Wednesday.

Funnily enough, looking at the average attendances, the first time they dipped below 10,000 post-war was in 1975, a year after he took over. Making excuses?

Check out the Odsal Stadium in Bradford. Now that used to be a monster of a ground, second only in size to Wembley. A record crowd of over 102,000 in 1954 ! On Wiki there's a great black and white aerial shot of a full stadium, which is quite mind boggling.

I know it was massive , I used to live in bradford

Bradford played leeds at the odsal after the bradford fire wrecked valley parade

Leeds fans set a mobile hot dog van alight in the end they were allocated

    Which was sensitive of them
