Feck the (dying) music culture in Cardiff, we need more flats, apparently.

    Signed

A once vibrant city renowned for it's diversity and live bands in pubs and clubs has taken a big knock since the 90's and it looked as though it could be on the up again with the opening of the Tramshed.

Not that I go to watch many bands these days (perhaps because not many play these days!) but this must not be allowed to happen!

    Grrrr

I know, I sometimes went there 3 or 4 times a week in the 90’s. Couldn’t tell you the amount of bands I’ve seen there.

Re: The Tramshed at risk of shutting down

Saw some of my favourite bands at the Welsh club and the coal exchange

Clutch , deftones , will haven , and you will know us by the trail of the dead

Cardiff is awful for live venues

The barfly used to have a lot of rock and metal bands but it was too small

The coal exchange was great but that's gone , the point was good

Millenium music hall was ok , thats gone

The great hall at the university is ok but it's a poor view

The Arena is not an arena and is dreadful

    It's all going tits up

There’s basically nothing left.....if I was a young one now I wouldn’t be hanging around in Cardiff for music. Bristol seems to keep its live venues for starters. I forgot about barfly, another one gone.....

Cardiff Council really are incredibly shit aren't they? They seem intent on destroying anything that makes the city unique in favour of backhanders for more empty student flats and soulless office blocks

They probably could have saved Gwdihw, by telling the owners of the building they wanted to put a preservation order on it was the kiss of death. As soon as they knew this, there plans went into full swing to demolish it all for the masterplan of office or flat developments.
    Saved the facade I guess....

There was talk of hordes of rock fans ripping the gargoyles from the castle walls ,that's why the council caved in.
