Apparently, City are playing Oxford Utd tomorrow in a final warm-up game before the season resumes. Don't know where or when, but Oxford made the play-offs in League One and the mate who told me generally knows his stuff, so it's more than likely. Can't find anything online to confirm it, though.

This testing situation is bothering me. Almost every footballer, anywhere, who has been reported as testing positive has seemed to be showing no symptoms and feeling fine. I'm beginning to wonder how accurate these tests are, especially in light of something that happened today.
A colleague who had felt unwell for about a week contacted her GP this morning and explained her symptoms. He said it's more than likely that she has Covid-19. He gave her the standard advice, told her to self-isolate, to contact him again immediately if she felt significantly worse, etc, but when she asked if she should get a test, he apparently replied: "I wouldn't bother at this stage - they're not reliable anyway."
Bit of a worry.....

She is. My bosses insisted on it because she's had contact (albeit indirect) with another member of staff during the last week.
Her GP's apparent lack of faith in the testing system is one thing, but what I find perplexing is the positive tests for people who aren't feeling unwell. I completely understand that some people carrying Covid-19 are likely to be asymptomatic, but the rate seems suspiciously high. As far as I'm aware, I know only five people personally who have been tested - one because of Covid-like symptoms and four because of their jobs. The guy who had symptoms tested negative, as did two of the others, but two of the girls tested positive despite feeling fine and they never developed any symptoms at all. It just seems odd.
A significant number of people have tested positive for antibodies and recall having no symptoms. Not many footballers are testing positive, the virus is (for the majority) a minor illness, especially among the younger and fitter of the population.
I find his lack of faith disturbing..
Most of the anti body tests are absolutely useless. The Roche ones are apparently very accurate but some are as low as 40%. Might as well toss a coin.
According to reports from Oxford the friendly has been called off.
Not ideal. I guess it must be because of the positive tests in the Oxford camp.
The tests are reliable, if they are done correctly, and there are thousands of people who have Covid19 and show no symtoms whatsover, but can still pass it on to people, to me that is the more worrying!

Speaking to my neighbour yesterday who said his daughter and her partner tested positive for it, only symptoms they had were feeling tired and their sense of taste. Otherwise they were completely ok.
Oxford United can confirm that two people tested positive during the latest round of Covid-19 tests.
All first team players and staff had previously tested negative in two earlier tests but Thursday’s tests came back with two positive results and the those involved will now be off site and asked to self-isolate for 10 days as a precaution.
Neither had symptoms and can exercise independently within the current guidelines while they are away from the club. The medical team will be in contact with them on a day-to-day basis and all players will still be completing their daily medical questionnaire and temperature checks, with regular testing continuing.
The club has notified the necessary medical channels and the EFL and all measures have been taken internally to ensure that the highest levels of safety and hygiene are maintained throughout the club.
Karl Robinson told us:
“ I am sure the fans will appreciate the honesty from us over this. We have said all along that we have to take the rough with the smooth but I hope in some way we can turn a negative into a positive. You can be anyone, anywhere and catch this terrible virus. We want fans to read this and just stick to all the available guidelines and advice because it can honestly happen to anyone.
“Thankfully they don’t have symptoms and as soon as we heard we went through all the data available from training- we can see who was where and whether there was any contact. We have supplied that data to our opponents, and the league, ahead of a friendly tomorrow and that should still go ahead. We have thoroughly reviewed everything we have been doing this week and are satisfied that everything has been done with player and staff welfare as a priority.
“We have learned to be flexible and we will adapt once again but the message to all the fans is to respect the guidelines that we are all living by right now, and most importantly, stay safe.”

James Henry believes Oxford United will have left any rustiness behind them when they contest the Sky Bet League One play-offs. The U’s have been back in training for just over a week after an enforced break of almost three months due to the coronavirus lockdown. They have already faced hiccups since they returned, with two people testing positive for the virus and both planned friendlies against Championship sides called off.
United resumed training yesterday after recording no positive results in the latest round of testing on Sunday. It meant Karl Robinson’s men played their first internal 11-a-side game since before the EFL season was suspended as they ramp up their preparations. Today will be a similar story after the planned friendly with a second-tier side was called off.
My neighbour is a nurse. She told me that of the staff off with Covid with her they all had the loss of taste.
These were paramedics. It seems that for some it can really run you into the ground whilst others come away pretty much unscathed.
Thought there was a distance limit for friendlies? Harris seem to confirm that.

Probably takes 20 minutes longer to get to Oxford than it does to get to Cheltenham. Not really putting them out much.
All depends where we were supposed to be playing them, could have met half way on someone else’s ground I suppose.
