It's a bit comical that the finals are still being played at Wembley.

I was surprised they still went with two-legged semi-finals. It makes more sense to play one-off games at neutral grounds. Perhaps at newer and better equipped stadia.

I thought they'd have done that too, but the football authorities are not making great decisions. They're still expecting people to travel around the entire continent in 12 months time watching Euro 202(0/1)

Play offs are good for the game but need a refresh.

Team 6 should play away at 5. One game.
    Winners play away to 4.
    Winners play 3 at Wembley.

That way there is an advantage to finishing higher than 6th.

1st at home to 4. One game
2nd at home to 3. One game

Not bad though that way team 4 plays the same number of games to reach the final as team 1. Should it be a harder route the lower you finish?

Then the lower team has suspensions, injuries and tiredness to deal with. Why do they need to be punished?

The advantage for the team finishing highest is that it plays the lowest (presumably weakest) team. That's enough. Team 3 probably wouldn't be happy about missing out on the gate receipts and TV money either.

Let's be honest, the team in third place should be promoted in the first place.

Why? If we don't have playoffs, half the games every weekend from February onwards are meaningless.

I am sure that team 3 would be happy to miss out on two games safe in the knowledge that they are through to a one off game at Wembley. It should be easier the higher you finish, so if team 6 picks up injuries that is the price they pay for finishing lower.

Because a team finishing ten points behind them can be promoted after a long season instead. A team in third place that may have missed out on automatic promotion by goal difference in the first place.

So, the team that wins the league and gets the trophy, possibly by 10 points plus, has to play off against someone below them to see if they go up. What a ridiculous suggestion !!

Why change something that works, is exciting and keeps the league competitive usually right until the last game.

And they know the rules. The rules have been in place for what, 35 years now?

The play off games are usually the most exciting and memorable ones of the whole season. I don't know why it's so common for people to be down on them.

I think he means the four teams in the play off positions.
