Nothing wrong with helping those who need it - children who look after their disabled parents for example. There was a programme on Radio 4 about 5yrs ago - these kids were having their ONE day to their own at a woodland retreat in Wales. You should have heard them. They were absolutely thrilled to bits. I'd help people like that every day of the week..
Yes you have told me that but fail to answer my response which asked which government of any persuasion anywhere has afforded to pay for the Utopian Society you believe is possible. At least we agree on the fact taxes will have to rise to pay for the COVID-19 episode but sadly that will not provide for the distribution of wealth you require. You have to be realistic and not idealistic.
Of course tax's will rise, then it will be " the Tories, always putting up taxes to punish the poor "
yet the same tories have handed out that money ( that they will need to claw back ) to help us all
the tory money tree isnt as good at labours
damned if they do damned if they don't
What about people who face racial discrimination to get into management positions in the workplace
I mean we so often hear people say we want the best person for the job but that is clearly often not true
I have worked in welfare and housing in inner city oxford , bradford and cardiff. Most of the people coming in for advice and support were from the ethnic minorities.
Very few of the staff were from the ethnic minorities and I cant remember one senior member of staff or management of colour in all the years I worked
Some people , those carers you talked of , disabled people and others need a helping hand
How do you know he was referring to Emily Davidson? I doubt he actually knew her name until you posted it.
But he clearly was so intent on making his point that he didn't even stop to consider the point of what I said, (Although I agree it was fatuous) He was using Pankhurst wrongly to support his argument.
Emily Pankhurst never existed. (Or at least not in the realm of the suffragettes.)
Hopefully the burden will fall on those who used it more than those of us who haven't. I'd feel personally aggrieved having lost 40% of my wages (whilst still working), to find I have to then pay more taxes to subsidise people that I know have blankly refused to work, and self employed people who have worked and taken the cash handout.
Who gives a toss whether you agree with it or not? your disagreement won't stop it happening. I'd love to know what magic formula you have to redistribute the wealth of the nation and make everyone richer. It must be a blinder. People will pay you a fortune for it.
