That wasnt a rumour it was really close. He was offered the job but did a u turn and we got Malky.
Did the club ever confirm that? I know what Shearer claimed and I know what the ITK legends on another site claimed...
Shearer did a crap job at his beloved Newcastle. No risk for him - get relegated, not his fault, damage already done. Stay up and he's a miracle worker.
I always viewed it as Shearer making the claim up to reduce criticism for the crap work at Newcastle - "See, other club wanted me!".
Before Toshack went to Swansea and took them up, wasn’t he close to rejoining City as a player/coach or did Andrews reject that idea immediately?
