Are the statistics showing knife crime to be a predominantly black person issue skewed due to the racial profiling and far higher chance of being searched and caught with a knife or its it the other way round?
Interesting point - however if you are 40 times more likely to be searched if you are black you wonder what thinking is behind carrying a knife in the first place.
There was a murder in Portobello Road last week - which is about a mile away from this incident old bill have been on high alert and patrolling the area....She should have just got out the car and let the old bill do what they got to do and work with the community.
There was also a 2 year old boy who got shot in the head along with his mother about 2 miles away in Harlesden a few weeks back, knife and gun crime is off the scale right now in W.London so the community needs to work together because it might be your son or granddaughter who gets caught in the crossfire.

I read the smiley as recognition of the humour in the "black people in a car with tinted windows" comment and how they were racially profiled.

they were asked to pull over, they didnt, when they were stopped they wouldnt get out of the car

If you were a woman with a baby in the back of a car and the police were trying to drag you out do you think you would try and protect your baby ?

I have no idea if there was weed in the area, in the car or anywhere else. its not uncommon to smell weed when you're out and about. you of all people should know its quite popular. I cant walk the length of my local park without coming across the sweet smell of Mary Jane.

I would hazard a guess that stop and search happens more in poorer areas than affluent areas. My (rather uneducated) view is that this is an issue of social mobility rather than race per se. given BAME are less likely to be socially mobile, they are more likely to be subject to stop and search.

my inference is that this happens to people who live in poorer areas, because that is where the crime is. Where the area is predominantly white, it will be white people who are searched more frequently. Likewise where an area is predominantly black, it will be black people who are searched more frequently. That's not racist, its just a numbers game.

You would have done but you are not the mother of a 3 month old baby , maternal instinct to protect a child in the face of threat is very strong

I'm a father of 3, and my response may or may not have been different. However i'd have alluded to the fact I'd get out of the car as long as the safety of the child I was carrying was paramount.
Its been said before, how you approach these situations can determine the outcome. I've been stopped previously, and within five minutes I was on my own. Why - because I understand that arguing with the police is futile and ends in only one outcome. Is it a pain in the arse - yes. Did I act sensibly so I could be on my way - yes.
