But could be even if they lose on Saturday. I'ts an almost impossible set of scores to get them relegated involving Wigan winning twice, Hull or Luton (but can't be both) winning twice, wins for Charlton and Huddersfield, points gained by Stoke and Birmingham
How are they safe when Hull and Luton can get 51 points with Middlesbrough on 50?
I accept they could still go down but its really unlikely. They are only able to finish 22nd and it will take freak results for 4 other teams to make that happen.

Hull and Luton play each other. Only one or the other can get 51 points.
Wigan are the key here. If they don't win both their games and then get docked 12 points they drop below Boro.
But if Wigan win both games and then lose 12 points they stay above Boro if Neil Warnock's side lose twice. But it still means other sides need to win games
So if Charlton don't lose to Wigan at 12 30 ko Saturday Boro are safe before our game starts. 😊
