There seem to be two different types that people refer to:
1) Running one or more account at the same time, sometimes having supportive conversations. This seems to require logging in and out and in a couple of instances people doing that have been caught out because they forgot to log out of their account and into the other one:
2) The same individual having more than one account running (usually a sleeper account but sometimes a new one). These people are used to being banned or outed so they materialise in another guise usually swearing blind they are "longtime lurkers" rather than an old face with a new broom.
SURELY no one does this. I know there's a lot of "you need to get a life, stop taking the board so seriously" talk on here but I usually assume that most of us have actually got stuff going on outside here, just we're at work or it's easy to dip in and out and post. It is mightily confusing. I woke up this morning hoping I wasn't suddenly in an episode of Quantum Leap and having to live weeks as blue matt.
they are easy to spot aswell, they always gravitate back to requiring attention from the same posters who they used to get it from under previous accountsdidn't you know that? That's why I used to wave at him every time he stalked my posts. I refused to engae with him and it riled him so much.
He moaned to MM and MM asked me to stop but he hasn't. I thinking of raising it again but against who? He is so many.

You need to appreciate that there are some very, very strange people using this message board and that's always been the case. The sort of thing you're referring to definitely used to happen years ago. Some of the more notorious contributors had four or five accounts running at the same time, but most of those idiots got found out eventually. I've no idea if that sort of thing still happens now, but I can't see any reason why it wouldn't.
The weirdos who make me laugh the most are those who register a new account and pretend they've never used this board before, but in no time at all they are referring to things other people did or said (or at least what they think other people did or said) years ago.
Allez Allez Allez is a good example of what I'm talking about. Account registered in May 2019. 156 post since that date, around 30 of which have been direct attacks on me, often quoting things he apparently believes I've said or done over the years, some of which date back more than a decade. I don't know if he's one of these sad cases who has multiple accounts or is just someone like our friend CCFCC3PO who changes his username regularly, but what I do know is that he's a coward.

Actually what I said earlier about never knowing wasn't entirely accurate now I think about it - occasionally a new poster will turn up and plough straight in being very opinionated and chippy, whereas I think most new posters tend to feel their way in for a bit, sometimes when that happens I think maybe it's a multi.
