Thread: Kids as students living at home

Kids as students living at home

My kids have decided to stay at home next term rather than rent out - they still get an accommodation grant/loan.

Anyone else in the same boat? If so how much “rent” do you charge them?

    Cheers

    My daughters stayed at home.
They got a grant but nowhere near as much as the accommodation grant.

The grant is £1k, then there is a loan on top of about £7k

I would take whatever they were going to spend on student accommodation and put it into a lifetime ISA for them

or you can just ask student finance wales to not have the loan, and just keep the grant for spending money for them, then they will not have (as much) student debt.

Charging your kids to live a home feels a bit harsh.... 🤔
