The 5-3-2 looks ok but Murphy's natural instinct to drift wide has left Glatzel isolated
Tried to buy this for £1 to watch the last half an hour. Stream keeps slipping to a link to the shop and season tickets.
Shocking app it really is.
Pack free kick headed in by Flint - 2-1.
2-1. Flint.
Bamba's passing has been sloppy
Almeida and Bowen on
hopefully some of the youngsters can make the leap this season.
Sang looks like he has something about him definitely.
Margetson showing plenty of endeavour, his cross let him down though
Finished 2-1 - thought Sang did well in the second half.
For all of the attempts to play more of a passing game, our two goals both came from set pieces - nothing wrong with that though because it is a strength of ours.
I wonder what might have been had Flint been an option to bring off the bench late against Fulham.
Bamba & Flint played some really poor passes out from the back, Sang played well and looks like he has a real chance of making the step up.
From WOL great to see so many young players in the squad and playing a part
Smithies 6
Had one scare when he came off his line and made a hash of clearing the ball, but apart from that he dealt with what little he had to do fairly comfortably, as you would expect.
Jordi Osei-Tutu 8
A really bright start from the young Arsenal loanee. Playing at wing back, he looked so natural and he really added to the City attack. Confident with the ball, pacy and possesses a dangerous cross. Encouraging.
Curtis Nelson 8
He needed to work on his distribution and he appears to have done just that. Looked to carve out meaningful passes to begin attacks, a much-needed dimension added to his game. Strong in defence when required, too.
Sol Bamba 6
Again, played in a system which really suited him in a back three. Largely untroubled but misplaced a pass to gift Cheltenham a golden chance, from which Alfie May scored.
Sean Morrison 7
Another comfortable afternoon for the City skipper. Made a couple of timely challenges when needed and popped up with the odd attacking header from the City set piece, too.
Joe Bennett 7
Looked so comfortable at left wing back and his link-up play with Josh Murphy was lovely to see. City looked a real threat down the left with those two. Little to do going the other way.
Marlon Pack 6
Another who benefited from this more fluid system. He dropped into defence when needed and it allowed the likes of Nelson and Bamba to push forward.
Leandro Bacuna 8
Scored an absolute stunner to get City on their way and dominated his midfield battles. Proof just how much City missed him in the middle at the back end of last year.
Junior Hoilett 6
Another solid outing for the Canadian, however not a great deal to write home about.
Apart from put the ball in the back of the net, Murphy did just about everything else. Really promising to see him running at defenders confidently and whipping dangerous balls into the box. Just what City fans want to see.
Robert Glatzel 7
Another player who looked really lively. Looks a far more confident dribbler now and it is a mouthwatering prospect that he is battling Kieffer Moore for that shirt this term.
SUBS
Tom Sang (on for Osei-Tutu 46) 8
Made a really telling impact when he came on. Played two or three beautiful balls to pick out his forwards and send them on attacks. Played in an unfamiliar role at right wing back, too, so plaudits for that.
Neil Etheridge (on for Smithies 59) 6
Had very little to do in the final half an hour. Tried to start attacks quickly with fast distribution.
Aden Flint (on for Nelson 59) 8
Another goal for the centre back, towering above the defence to head home and put City back into the lead in the second half. Also made a crucial intervention to stop the Robins nicking a late equaliser.
👏 Bacuna strikes! 💙
