I hardly think that a yougov survey of 1000 people is representative of what is actually happening in football nowadays, bearing in mind that on average over 600000 different people attend football matches every week (when Covid allows), just in the Premier League and Championship and nearly 33 million people attend all four main leagues during a whole season. In my experience racism and chanting of a sexual nature at football games is vastly reduced from what it was in the 1980’s and 90’s and football games are a much more enjoyable experience as a result. No doubt there is more to do to get rid of it totally but the situation is nowhere near as bad as the media and organisations such as kick it out like to portray. What does go on is unfortunately a reflection of society as a whole and illustrates the way in which sad, cowardly people nowadays use social media as a way of hiding their identity to cover their tracks and spout their bile/hate anonymously. This type of thing is not just a football issue.

I thought a representative sample size of 1000 was an industry norm for pollsters - with a +/-3% margin of error assumed?

Are you saying kick it out and the people reporting these incidents are making it up ?

No, just exaggerating its prevalence within football stadiums.

How can you get an accurate idea of anything by asking a sample of 0.14% of the people who watch it every week. That's why opinion polls are notoriously inaccurate and can not be relied upon.

In fairness you offered your position on the matter based on a sample size of 1.
