True, he was one of those City Arms/Old Arcade type drinkers whose world revolved around those two pubs and Cardiff Arms Park and annoyingly pushed the fallacy that all proper Kairdiff characters did as well. RIP though, he made a living out of it.

He really should have called himself the Grangetown kid as that's all he ever wrote about (sometimes Docks). Ironic, that given Grangetown has always been a football stronghold he was pretty dispariging about football. I do recall he loved to fit a Rugby reference into nearly every article he ever wrote though.
