    Fishing Trip Failure

very quiet on the river today

Few small perch following my spinner but very few takes until a pike took my lure

Played him beautifully until he bit through my line just as I was landing him .

Beautiful day out there today , the dog days of summer 😀

It was , although fishing is generally better when its cloudy

Predatory fish like pike , perch and trout like murky conditions

    Same as great white sharks

Never go surfing in Northern california when its cloudy

So that poor fish will be swimming round with a hook ripped through its cheek, probably rusting away and poisoning it!
    Great sport!

Pike don't have cheeks , they are prehistoric fighting machines

Modern hooks disintegrate in no time

When you are spinning for predatory fish you are trying to imitate a small prey fish passing in the river flow

Fish like pike have to compete with perch and trout so very quickly attack and snap at passing food

Therefore any spinner with hooks in it is invariably found in what we call the scissors the extreme bony lips of the pike , it soon breaks down , unlike hooks that get lodged in the belly of fish , such as the ones used to catch tuna
