I don't think the sweeper is supposed to go beyond the far post when the left centre half and full back are already there, and there is another Leeds player coming into the box from a central position. A bit shabby, but there were two new players in the back 3, and it takes time to develop an understanding.
Ampadu was part of the problem, not exclusively his fault though in my opinion. He passes Bamford on to one of the two defenders who were more central and he covers the near post, nothing wrong with that. He did go for a ball that was none of his business seconds before that and there was zero communication between defenders, also, have a look at Ampadu and the other two defenders, completely ball watching, not one of them had any awareness of players around them and Bamford just ghosted between those two defenders. Shocking stuff.
Bamford moved into Robinson's zone, and there was another Leeds player coming into the box, so it's all down to what instructions the manager gave the players.
No it isn't, 90th minute and looking like a decent enough point, **** what the manager has said. At that point in a game you do anything to stop a goal. Just shit defending all round, i would blame the other two more than Ampadu.
Ampadu was covering the far post, the fullback had tucked in to compensate-standard shit, the ball watching wasn't though.
Like I said it's all down to what instructions the manager gave the players. Bamford was beyond Robinson before the ball was crossed. If Ampadu was tasked to stay between the other two centre backs, he'd be going against his manager. You can clearly see another Leeds player coming into the box, so who was going to deal with him if Ampadu was at the far post with the other two Sheffield defenders?

I'm not saying that Ampadu should have stayed central, the position he took was correct in my opinion. The header by Bamford should've been dealt with by the defenders in the box, great cross and run, but they weren't aware of it. No way would Ampadu take up a central position in that situation. If there's a leeds midfield player making alate run then that's the job of a midfielder to track. I don't think Ampadu did to much wrong, maybe he should've communicated better. Leeds pushed men on, brave of them, that was basic poor defending.
Ampadu marking the invisible man at the near post totally unaware Bamford had peeled off him. If he was meant to be marking Rodrigo he had a funny way of showing it as he was running away from him!!!
Bamford had already peeled off before the cross came in, so you are saying three defenders were needed to mark one player at the far post, when two were already there?
Between the three of them, more so Ampadu and the middle centre half, they got themselves into a right mess. You are trying to say Ampadu takes up his position because of the later runner into the box, absolute nonsense, he is running away from the runner into the box and he runs to the near post because he thinks thats where Bamford is going. If the cross is played to the runner into box he has a free header because Ampadu is in no mans land.
A few moments before Leeds could have scored on the break because Ampadu had gone forward for a set piece and was caught ball watching at the breakdown.
Face facts, your boy isnt living up to his early potential. A big season for him, hopefully, for Wales sake at leasr, today was just a bit of rustiness and him getting used to new team mates as he had abit of a run around, 1st half especially. He will need to shape up a bit if he wants to become a top, top player.
Ampadu was ball watching, he does that quite a lot, and he goes for balls that he has no business going for, that said, i don't think that his position was a bad one, he passed Bamford onto two defenders in the middle and took up a position on the near post. Unless he was told to follow Bamford like a lost puppy, then the only thing i'd accuse him of is a lack of communication and awareness. I'd agree with you in saying that he has a lot to learn, he's a bit all over the place at times.
I honestly dont think he passed him on, I think he was ball watching and hasnt even realised Bamford has given him the slip.
One thing he certainly did not do is purposely take up that position because of the runner into the box. That is WB clutching at straws.
