I remember Phil Tufnell saying he hated coming onto bowl whenever Dean Jones was already in as Tuffers said he used to just charge down the wicket looking as if he was going to kill him. It was a relief he said that he generally just smashed him all over the place.

Off topic another Tufnell story. He came out to bat with Gooch the captain at the other end. Gooch demanding captain etc wanting him to dig in. Merv Hughes is the bowler and says words to the effect im going to feckin kill you Tufnell. Hughes bowls a bouncer hits Tufnell on the glove and caught behind. Tufnell to his horror sees the umpire hasnt seen the ball touch him on the glove and hasnt given him out. Tufnell says his batting cowardice comes in so yells youve broken my feckin finger. Umpire gives out , Gooch looks at him in disbelief.
